PROJECT INITIATIVES

05

As an HR Generalist at Naperville Community Unit School District 203, I recognized the need to improve our internal HR website, which was outdated, difficult to navigate, and not compliant with ADA guidelines.

To address these issues, I led a comprehensive renovation of the Human Resources website. The updated platform now adheres to ADA standards and features a user-friendly design, making it both accessible and easy to navigate.

Thanks to these improvements, over 3,000 employees can now easily access documents and find answers to their questions, significantly enhancing their overall experience and efficiency.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY

& INCLUSION

06

As a DEI advocate, I founded and lead Unidos en 203, part of Naperville 203's Equity Affinity Groups, to support the Latine community. With 395 Hispanic/Latine staff, we foster belonging and a positive work environment through various activities.

Our mission is to support Hispanic/Latine individuals by nurturing community, celebrating cultural diversity, and empowering leadership. One notable achievement was organizing a virtual workshop on "Navigating White-Affluent Spaces as a Latine," addressing challenges in predominantly white environments. Participants learned about microaggressions, stereotypes, and building supportive networks, leaving empowered and equipped for success.

Additionally, we enhanced the Talk203 Newsletter's accessibility by prominently relocating the translation feature, ensuring vital information is available to all. These efforts reflect our commitment to inclusivity and equity.

Redesigning the Homepage for North Central College's

Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program

As Senior Web Specialist, I was tasked with redesigning the homepage for North Central College's Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program. The goal was to create a more user-friendly and visually appealing homepage that would better communicate the value of the program to prospective students.

Understanding the User

Before beginning the redesign, I conducted research to gain a better understanding of the target audience. Through user interviews and surveys, I discovered that prospective students were primarily interested in learning about the program's curriculum, faculty, and career opportunities. They also wanted to know about the application process and any relevant deadlines.

Through this process, I found out that many prospective students were hesitant to apply to the program due to confusion surrounding the application process and difficulty finding information on the website. It became clear that the website needed to be redesigned to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.

09

Design Process

Using this information, I began the design process by creating wireframes of the new homepage layout. I focused on creating a clear hierarchy of information, with the most important information displayed prominently at the top of the page.

To make the homepage more visually appealing, I incorporated high-quality photographs of students and faculty throughout the page. I also made sure to include clear calls-to-action, such as "Apply Now" and "Request Information", to help guide users towards the next steps in the application process.

Results

The redesigned homepage for North Central College's Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program has received very positive feedback from users. The new layout and clear calls-to-action have resulted in an increase in applications and inquiries from prospective students.

The new design has also helped to address previous issues with confusion surrounding the application process. By making the application process more intuitive and easy to understand, more students are now applying to the program.

Overall, the new design has not only improved the user experience but has also helped to increase enrollment in the program.

For the first year, The State of Illinois has invited school districts to participate in the State Seal of Biliteracy Program. Senior students in participating districts can take a test to receive the State Seal of Biliteracy or Commendation toward Biliteracy, a mark of distinction on their high school diploma, that recognizes students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation.
